One of the most delightful and delicious dining experiences I have had in Kigali! Our waiter Patrick took over 15 minutes to explain the menu to us and answer all of our questions, with such patience and a smile. We were shocked at how quickly the food arrived, and even more shocked at how fresh and delicious the meals were. We also can’t forget the beautiful view that pairs great with the food! Close to the Kigali Convention Centre lies one of the most memorable dining experiences in Rwanda. I first knew The Hut as a standout restaurant — it has since grown into a hotel with a rooftop restaurant on the 4th floor, boasting incredible open-air views and the same warm, attentive hospitality it has always been known for. As founder and president of Connect Rwanda (Teachers • Tech • Together), I've spent years living and working in Rwanda and return at least once a year. I know the Kigali food scene well — and The Hut consistently earns its place among the best. Today I was looked after by Claire, whose attentiveness and warmth set the tone for a wonderful lunch. I ordered the strawberry and apple salad — fresh, beautifully balanced, and lifted by lightly toasted, perfectly seasoned croutons in a delicate balsamic dressing. Alongside it, the avocado fries were a revelation: what appeared to be two full, beautifully ripe avocados, sectioned, lightly coated in a crumb seasoning, and fried with a feather-light touch. Each piece simply melted in the mouth. To drink, a mango smoothie — the ideal midday pairing. Kigali has a genuinely excellent food scene, and The Hut sits right at the top. Asked for breakfast at 6am sharp. All four of us didn't get any breakfast and check out took 45 minutes. Finally checking out at 6.45am and delaying us. Charged twice for food..a bill we cleared at the restaurant the night before was re added on the room bills. Bathroom drains not working. Not a pleasant stay at all.
